Tinshill Recreation De-Fence Group

zero tolerance of dictator-style decisions by council officials.

Footballer Parking page to be amended?

There are two car parks at Holt Park- the “ASDA” car park and the one near the High Farm that used to be used by staff from the old Ralph Thoresby School.

The council now describe this as a “development opportunity”. This is the car park used by sporting people, the bowlers, tennis players and  should be used by those who play on Tinshill Recreation Ground.

It is safer than the “ASDA” car park. People have to dodge buses and taxis near the ASDA entrance as well as the usual inconsiderate motorists who do not always let people cross.

Why not upgrade this other car park, signpost it and make it available for motorists that use the car park on the ASDA side as a “Park and Ride”?

This suggestion has been passed to the team responsible for the Holt Park regeneration.

In the meantime ASDA staff have been threatening people parking in the parent and child spaces with penalty charges.

This car park is not owned by ASDA. It is there for our community using the sports and health centre and people using the frequent bus services.

Perhaps ASDA could buy the other car park, upgrade it and improve security?

The council is trying to suggest that sportsmen using the recreation ground will be able to use the school facilities. A pilot scheme is being organized.

Meanwhile footballers are still changing and parking on the ground. Not on 20 January though. All those expensively drained pitches all over Leeds are waterlogged and were closed. What a waste of money!

Council wants to develop car park.
