Tinshill Recreation De-Fence Group

More January Council Meeting News

It looks as though the fence will be built in February, but it will only be certain when it happens, there is a lot of political pressure going on, and the local elections are fast approaching.  “Election before erection”

The Area Committee are suggesting that the fence might come down if the old school land is not used for regeneration.

Members who went to the Area Committee had to wait 3 hours to be heard. Perhaps the council hoped that we would have gone home, or there would not have been time to discuss the field.

At the council Meeting on 12 January, The Public Pitch Access report was to be debated, it was shown on the order paper and Cllr Blake and Cllr Minkin were to speak on it.

Alan got to the council meeting at 1pm as requested, and after the speech was finished, he sat in the public gallery all afternoon waiting for what might have been the final debate about Tinshill Recreation Ground.

In the event a lot more councillors spoke at the meeting than planned, talking for longer about seemingly trivial issues.

At 1645 the council leader stopped the meeting, they have a rule that limits the time they can discuss the minutes.

So, Tinshill Recreation was kept quiet, very disappointing, a long wait for nothing?

The Lord Mayor invited the remaining few members of the public for tea, Alan took the opportunity to speak to a number of councillors who seemed very supportive.

We await answers from the Executive Board as requested by our deputation and await developments on the field.

We don't give up– Save our Field.
