Executive Board Agrees Access |
|
The council Executive Board has agreed an access arrangement with the school. Details can be found in a report by the Chief Recreation Officer dated 14 November 2007. The report shows that the fence is part of the PFI (Private Finance Initiative) for Ralph Thoresby School. The old school land belongs to the PFI who may sell it for possible house building and regeneration of Holt Park. Because of this there will be no sport pitches for the school and the fence is proposed. The purpose of the report is to inform councillors of access arrangements for two of the six football pitches, and the appointment of a full time gardener at the ground. The pitches will be used by the school for 38 weeks a year between 8 am and 6pm, so they can deliver the sports curriculum. The playing fields will remain in the control of the council and will continue to be managed by the Parks and Countryside Service. When the School is using the pitches they will be locked, but outside this time a Service Level Agreement, signed by the school, will ensure public access. Parks and Countryside will monitor the opening and closing of gates at the end of the school day. They will also allocate the grounds for football teams. The Service Level Agreement between the council and school is subject to terms and conditions. The Board has agreed a pilot project for allocating changing facilities and car parking at the school and pitches. Editor comment: “What are the terms and conditions of the agreement and how long will it last for?”
